The Body Recovery Unit (BRU) is currently collaborating with Lewisham Maternity Services and Maternity Voices Partnership. One of the artwork from the collaboration is a relaxation A Whisk in Your Head? (2017), which is created using midwives descriptions of their own bodies as they experience them throughout a work day. The work was installed temporarily at the “Midwife Wellbeing Day” (2017) at Lewisham Hospital.
Through our collaboration we will explore how to introduce artistic work into the context of maternity services – showcasing and using artworks to discuss the today’s digitalised healthcare technologies and governance models. Through participatory processes, we explore how artistic interventions can create processes for conversation, and bridge perception between service users, healthcare professionals and policy makers.
